Eliminating a Click or Pop in a Recording

I recently purchased a new USB microphone for voice over work and had the first chance to try it out. The Samson CO1U is a very nice and affordable microphone and fit my needs perfectly.

When I finished my VO and edits, I exported the file as an MP3 to e-mail my client. When I listened to the export, I heard a click toward the beginning of the file. How could I have missed it? It’s right in the middle of the word, “warrior.”

The Internet’s True Potential

According to a news article I read recently, in 2011 the Internet “split in two.” Basically, there was traditional Internet browsing on computers and laptops, but because of the “app boom” and the use of mobile web browsers, a more common way to surf the web is while on the move,  and not sitting at a desk. I think web surfing on a computer is getting close to seeing its end.

2011 in review

Non-Linear Workflow: iMovie ’11 Even Faster!

I don’t know if anyone has yet tried my technique with iMovie about getting videos to the Internet faster, but I recently had the need to get many videos up there in a few short days’ time. My original posts about non-linear workflows using iMovie explain how you can “cheat the system” when importing footage on top of an older file of the same name. Though this practice works, there were some details I seemed to have left out, plus some updates how I make it work for me.

Being an iPhone “MP3-DJ”

Last month, in honor of our civil servants, police officers, fireman, and to all who perished on 9/11, we held a luncheon in our gymnasium for the 10th anniversary of that fateful day. I was asked to attend and provide background music for the meal. Changin the music in the soundbooth in the gym invokes going through two locked doors and up a steep stairwell; a cumbersome task when I’m dressed for church. I needed a 21st century solution. Enter my iPhone.

Well, it took forever, but I managed to figure a good way to get some of my audio clips and sound effects in my audio page for you to listen to. As I make more interesting sound clips and effects, you’ll find them in that page.

Convert Scale to Position: After Effects Tutorial

I worked on a project making three 3D bar graphs which would grow. I wanted the text of the item being measured to actually sit on top of the bar graph as it moved. In doing so, I ran into some issues with the text changing size as the bar grew, rather than it appear as if it was just sitting on top.

Multimedia AV Carts: Finished Product

I spent the last month working on the AV carts at church. They’re used in our academy and in our sunday school classes every week. They have a great deal of functionality and needed a serious overhaul because of people’s “adaptations.” I think what I’ve come up with will work just fine.

When Did You Stop Learning?

These thoughts may read more like a ramble, so please forgive me. I haven’t blogged much lately, and I just had to say something. Hope you find it useful.

Lots of blogs and websites share a person’s experiences, telling about their day, their thoughts, similar to a journal. They are useful and very insightful. Some people are writers, authors, teachers, mothers and fathers. Everyone has something to share, and everyone else has time to listen. Or do they?
